Board to meet December 4
The board’s next scheduled meeting will be on Wednesday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Saline District Library. Co-owners having business to bring before the board are advised to contact a board member in advance to add an item to the agenda.
Annual meeting complete, new board in place
Thanks to the turnout of sufficient co-owners and return of many proxy forms, a quorum was reached to hold the association’s annual meeting on October 8 — the first time in several years that the meeting was able to go forward on the first try.
Among other news, attendees learned that the snow removal contract for the coming winter is in place, and that the current state of the budget is favorable as we head toward the end of the year.
Congratulations to newly-elected board member Julie Shook and to Keith Bellman, who was returned to the board after being appointed to fill a vacancy earlier this year.
Annual meeting agenda
By now, co-owners should have received the mailed meeting notice and postage-paid proxy cards for our upcoming annual meeting. Please plan to attend the meeting and/or return the proxy card as soon as possible to the association will obtain a quorum and avoid the inconvenience and expense of rescheduling the annual meeting.

New standing rules for meetings
On September 26, 2013, the Board of Directors adopted the following two standing rules:
1. Recording of meeting proceedings. Recording or broadcast of any audio or video by any mechanical or electronic device during any meeting of the association or its Board of Directors is prohibited, unless a resolution permitting a specified instance of such activity shall have been duly adopted in advance. Persons observed recording and/or broadcasting in violation of this rule shall be ordered to cease and desist by the chair. Persons who fail to cease and/or desist may be ruled out of order by the chair and, after final warning from the chair, be escorted from the meeting by a designee or designees of the chair. Failure to cooperate in being escorted from the meeting shall be considered trespassing, disorderly conduct, a breach of peace or other complaint and may be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
2. Participation by non-member attendees. Except in service on behalf of a member or rightsholder as a language interpreter or physical aide, participation by any non-member attendee at any meeting of the association or its Board of Directors shall be limited to that of a non-speaking observer, unless such attendee has been recognized to speak by the chair, in which case the speaker shall suspend speaking upon the direction of the chair. Persons failing to observe this rule may be ruled out of order by the chair and, after final warning from the chair, be escorted from the meeting by a designee or designees of the chair. Failure to cooperate in being escorted from the meeting shall be considered trespassing, disorderly conduct, a breach of peace or other complaint and may be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
Annual meeting set for Tuesday, October 8, 2013
The Board of Directors has scheduled our annual meeting for the general membership for Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at the Liberty School cafeteria, 7265 N. Ann Arbor St. Doors will open for sign-in at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting being called to order at 7 p.m.
A quorum of at least 30% of eligible member units must be represented in person or by proxy to hold this meeting. Co-owners: you will soon receive notice of this meeting by mail. If there is even a chance that you will not be able to attend the meeting, it is very important that you complete and return the enclosed non-voting proxy. It only takes a minute, so please put this prepaid postcard in the mail today. (You can still attend and vote at the meeting even if you returned a proxy.) Helping to ensure a quorum in this way is the easiest thing you can do to keep association expenses — funded by the assessments you pay — under control.
The meeting will include reports from the current board officers, followed by nominations and the election of two positions on the Board of Directors. These positions are for two-year tems and are currently held by Charles Jeffries, who has announced his intention to resign, and Keith Bellman, who has served since his appointment last February. Please plan on attending to participate in this process, nominate a neighbor, volunteer to serve, learn more about the association, and otherwise represent your interest in the investment you have made in our community.
