The City will collect leaves from curbs beginning the week of October 26, and end the week of November 29.

2027 construction projects
At our October 2026 annual meeting, City and other representatives gave us a presentation on a number of construction projects in and around the neighborhood, including:
- Rehab work on the bridge on Woodland, scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
- Replacement of ramps on street corners to make them ADA-compliant; if you have a corner property you probably have received a letter regarding this work. They hope to begin work next spring.
- After the ramp replacement is done, they will re-pave the subdivision. They have not determined what order they will do the work in, and although it will be an inconvenience, we should not lose access to our driveways, except for very short periods of time when they have to re-pave those areas.
- Replacement of the culvert across the intersection from Ann Arbor/Woodland, toward Woodland Meadows and Wildwood. That work is expected to begin next summer, and while they hope to keep one lane on Woodland open, it’s going to be a significant disruption.
In unrelated work, many people have probably noticed a problem with the timing of the traffic light at Ann Arbor/Woodland, and it staying on red far too long for Woodland traffic. We emailed the City about it, and Brandon McNiel, the City’s new Director of Public Services, responded immediately and got a crew out to the light, who determined that the “puck” detector implanted in the ground is blown, and needs to be replaced. The City will get quotes for a new one and get it fixed. Until then the light will be on a straight timed basis.
Box tree moth alert!
Unfortunately, box tree moths – an invasive species that will destroy untreated boxwoods – have been found in our neighborhood. Thirteen counties in southeast and central Michigan, including Washtenaw, have been in a boxwood shrubs quarantine zone since 2023. You can read more about the box tree moth here.
If you have any boxwood bushes, MSU Extension recommends that:
“Nursery growers and landscapers may want to consider a precautionary spray program. This could be especially helpful in localities within, and adjacent to, the quarantine area. When spraying preventatively for the box tree moth, MSU Extension recommends two seasonal applications of a labeled pyrethroid product (e.g., bifenthrin) — once in late July and once again in early September. Be sure that the product is labeled for application at that site.
Alternatively, growers and landscapers can also spray a Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) product once every two weeks starting in late June. Bt is a bacterium that kills insects when ingested. Be sure to use the kurstaki strain, as this is the only one that specifically targets caterpillar larvae. Look for product labels that say Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki (Btk).
Homeowners within the quarantine area may want to implement a precautionary management program as well. Please follow the recommendations for nursery growers and landscapers as described above.“
Some neighbors report that the Monterey B.t. spray, available on Amazon, has been working well for weekly applications and after a rain.
May 16, 2026 – neighborhood spring garage sale
Our annual neighborhood spring garage sale day is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
2026 dues notices have been mailed out
2026 dues notices and assessments were mailed to all homeowners on December 6. If you did not receive one, please email us and we’ll send you another one.
Dues must be received not later than January 31, 2026; otherwise, a $10/mo late fee will apply.
Waterworks Road closure: Sat, November 8
The DPW says that Waterworks Road will be closed for a water main connection for the new Ridgewater site on Saturday, November 8. Working hours in the city are between 7 am and 7 pm; the work should be finished within that 12-hour period. Road closed signs and detour signs will be placed to help motorists navigate the closure. Woodland Drive and Colony Drive will be utilized for this detour. See the attached traffic plan.
City loose leaf collection begins October 20th
The City will begin loose leaf collection on October 20.

August 13 Planning Commission meeting re: PUD on North Ann Arbor Street
On August 13, 2025, at 7:00 pm, the City of Saline Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to hear a request for a final Planned Unit Development site plan application.
The PUD would call for development of 51 units of residential units across 5 buildings, on a 6.58-acre parcel.
If you would like to comment on the request, you may attend the public hearing or call the City or mail your comments to the City. Note that the comments must be received not later than 5:00 pm on August 13, 2025.
